16The Nation’s Best American Made Pop-Up Markets
Across the country, the appearance of “pop-up markets,” essentially temporary retail events combining product and food sales, entertainment and demonstrations, is becoming commonplace. Several of the best markets have gained notoriety for their excellent selection of brands focusing on the highest quality American made products. Here are a few of our favorites:

American Field – Since 2012, American Field has launched pop-up markets across several East Coast cities featuring American made products: clothing, accessories, goods, furniture, and more. American Field proudly states in their marketing, “It’s not a trade show, it’s a celebration of trade.” The intention of the market is to celebrate the talented craftspeople of America and their products, but also to educate customers on how their purchases can help the American economy. With this emphasis on educating the consumer, American Field markets include demonstrations by makers, workshops, and speakers on a variety of subjects. In the September 2014 market held in Boston, educational demonstrations/workshops included “Custom Leather Goods” by Corter Leather, “Boot Care” by Red Wing, and a variety of workshops by CustomMade, like “Cane Top Making” and “Bow Tie Making.” The market has a high concentration of clothing and accessories brands, including the breakout brand, R. Riveter. R. Riveter has created a company entirely run by military spouses, providing flexible and mobile employment in the creation of handbags. Other market highlights include Ursa Major, creators of natural skin care. Ursa Major focuses on quality, organic ingredients and has received major praise from all top men’s magazines. The next American Field Pop-Up Market will be held in Brooklyn on November 22nd & 23rd, 2014; learn more at: http://americanfield.us/

The Garden & Gun Jubilee – has become an annual event – and with a name like that, who can resist? The intention of the market is to celebrate the best of Southern culture and “Made in the South” products. The southern flair of the market’s host, Garden & Gun, is represented in the great selection of artisans, craftspeople, musicians, designers, chefs, writers, and other talented participants who highlight the best products made south of the Mason-Dixon. A small sampling of the diverse brands includes: Cedar Mountain Banjos, creators of heirloom-quality instruments; Three Brothers Boards, creators of wooden paddleboards; and Dangerfield Calls, maker of hand-crafted, custom turkey calls. Jubilee 2014 will be held December 5-7th in Charleston, South Carolina: http://www.gardenandgunjubilee.com/2014/
